Enterline to Participate in Big Ten Foreign Tour

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Senior guard Leah Enterline has been selected to the 2006 Big Ten Women's Basketball Foreign Tour squad, the conference office announced on July 6. Illinois' head coach Theresa Grentz will serve as the head coach of a team that consists of players from all 11 conference institutions. The tour, which will travel to Denmark, Norway and Sweden, July 18-28, will consist of four games over 11 days.
"It is fantastic that Leah will have this opportunity to represent Indiana on the Big Ten Foreign Tour Team," Indiana head coach Felisha Legette-Jack said. "Leah is one of our team leaders and summer captains, and will gain valuable experiences not only for herself but also for our team."
Enterline ranked fifth among the Hoosiers last season with 36 assists in 33 games, while averaging 11.6 minutes per game. The Monroeville, Ind., native scored a season-high six points against then-No. 7/7 Ohio State on February 5 and recorded a career-high three steals against Michigan in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.
Enterline joins three other seniors in Purdue's Katie Gearlds, Northwestern's A.J. Glasauer and Michigan State's Rene Haynes. This summer's roster is also highlighted by the 2006 Big Ten Freshman of the Year in rising Iowa sophomore Megan Skouby, along with Illinois sophomores Lori Bjork and Erin McCarthy, Minnesota junior Leslie Knight, Penn State sophomore Brianne O'Rourke, Ohio State junior Tamarah Riley, Michigan sophomore Stephany Skrba, and Wisconsin sophomore Danielle Ward.
Grentz, the Big Ten Foreign Tour Team head coach, completed her 32nd year overall and 11th at Illinois last season and became just the 10th Division I coach to reach 650 victories in her career while leading the Fighting Illini to a 16-15 overall mark during the 2005-06 campaign.
Upon arriving in Copenhagen, Denmark on Wednesday (July 19), the Foreign Tour members will stop at the Round Tower overlooking the city and visit Tivoli, one of the world's oldest amusement parks, which was founded in 1843. Prior to an evening game against the Danish U-18 ballclub in Horsholm on Thursday (July 20), the Tour will walk along the Nyhavn, a 300-yard picturesque canal surrounded by sidewalk cafes and tour the Rosenborg Castle as well. Following a morning of sightseeing and biking, the Tour will compete against Horsholm in its host city on Friday (July 21). The Big Ten squad will stay in Horsholm for the first part of Saturday (July 22), battling the Copenhagen All Stars in the afternoon before busing to Malmo, Sweden. Once in Malmo, the Tour will spend Sunday (July 23) walking the landscape of the Swedish town. The Tour then departs for Oslo, Norway on Monday (July 24) where it will take in sights such as the King's House, Domkirke Cathedral, Akershus Fortress and Holmenkollen Ski Jump over the next three days. The Big Ten squad concludes its competition slate on Wednesday against Oslo/Akershus BBC. After spending four days in Oslo, the team will board the Crown of Scandinavia cruise ship Thursday (July 27) night, which will take them back to Copenhagen for their departure on Friday (July 28).
Last year, the Big Ten Foreign Tour squad completed its fourth-consecutive undefeated trip as it went 5-0 in Belgium and the Netherlands. The team has won 19 straight contests and has gone 51-18 (.739) since the inception of the Tour in 1992, which has been held annually except for 2003.
