White and Ratliff Serving As Counselors At Elite Camp

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana juniors D.J. White and A.J. Ratliff are among the 30 college players serving as counselors at this week's All-American Camp in Indianapolis this week. The 6-9, 255-pound White is working at the camp for the second-straight summer, and he said that the opportunity to work with some of the nation's top high school players and also compete against his fellow counselors in pick-up games has been an invaluable experience.
"It's been real good so far, working out twice a day," White said. "It's such an honor to be invited here. To compete against these guys, many of them are good friends, is a confidence builder and reminds what I need to do to help my team be successful."
Recurring foot injuries relegated White to the sideline for much of the 2005-06 season. However, the All-American candidate has taken up residence in the weight room and practice court this spring, and that effort is already paying dividends.
"The biggest difference would be my strength. Our new strength and conditioning coach, Jeff Watkinson, is known to be one of the best in the business, and he is really good to work with," White said. "I have just been working on my body and my game, trying to become an even better low post presence."
It doesn't hurt to polish your skills against the likes of LSU All-American Glen "Big Baby" Davis, either.
"Glen and I have known each other since high school," White said. "We know each other's games pretty well. Working with all of these guys is great. We're as competitive as ever."
