IU Football Appreciation Day Slated For Aug. 19

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana fans will have an opportunity to meet and greet Hoosier coaches and players, select their own season ticket seat, purchase lunch and see the team's only public preseason scrimmage at IU Fan Appreciation Day on Aug. 19 at Memorial Stadium. Admission is free.
In 2005, Indiana football enjoyed a 39 percent increase in per game attendance, a 46 percent increase in overall season ticket sales and a 110 percent increase in student season ticket sales. Seven home games at Memorial Stadium this fall will have "The Rock" rocking, and Indiana head coach Terry Hoeppner looks forward to showing his gratitude in advance.
"I love this time of year because fans get more and more excited about the start of the football season," Hoeppner said. "The Hoosier Nation is unbelievable. They play a big role in some of the new traditions that we started last season including `The Walk,' and joining the band to sing the fight song after home victories. We need our fans to help us `Defend The Rock' this fall."
Fan Appreciation Day activities begin at 11 a.m., with players and coaches available for autographs until 12 p.m. A limited number of Kids Zone activities will be available for young Hoosier fans. Fans who have not purchased season tickets will have the opportunity to select their own seat at the stadium until 2 p.m. The IU Ticket Office staff will be on hand to escort fans to available seats and answer any questions. Concession stands will open at 11 a.m. with a full game day menu available including pulled pork, pizza and ice cream.
Indiana will take the field at 12:30 p.m. for warm-ups prior to the Hoosiers' lone scrimmage of fall camp, which will begin at 1 p.m.
