Throughout the 2006 preseason, IUHOOSIERS.com will be taking an insider's look at the women's soccer team. Each day from Aug. 8-23, a different member of the team will be keeping a diary of the day's events. The entry for Saturday, Aug. 12 is by freshman Christie Kotynski:
My first preseason as a college soccer player has officially started! It's strange to think I'm here already, but it is what I've been waiting for all summer!
Preseason is going really well at the moment. It's definitely a change from what I'm used to; waking up for morning fitness is without a doubt something I have to adjust to. Fitness isn't as bad though when we have our teammates pushing each other to try to become better. It's only been a few days and we are already forming strong bonds.
Another great thing about preseason is we play soccer a lot, which is nice. Practices are intense, but everyone is doing well and having fun at the same time.
The intensity of practice is pretty high, so it's nice to be able to hop into an icy whirlpool after. The whirlpool is something I was introduced to just this week. At first the water is freezing cold, but once you get out your legs feel amazing! This is just one of the little pieces of advice the returners have given us new freshman, and we are definitely glad they shared it with us.
Ok well that's it for today. Time to take advantage of naptime before the next practice!
