Bloomington, Ind. - The Indiana University men's soccer team was ranked 12th in the National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) Poll, released Tuesday, Aug. 15.
The team was ranked 13th by College Soccer News earlier this month.
The Hoosiers play seven of the top eighteen teams in the poll. Indiana faces No. 1 Maryland on Friday, Aug. 18 in the IPFW Soccer Showcase, while it matches with No. 2 Connecticut on Friday, Sept. 1 at the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic in Bloomington.
Also on the Hoosier's schedule is No. 7 Southern Methodist, No. 8 Creighton , No. 9 Akron, No. 12 Penn State, and No. 15 Notre Dame
"We've got our work cut out for us," said head coach Mike Freitag following the Hoosiers' exhibition victory over UIC. "A tough schedule is what we want though. They're going to be tough battles. The character I saw tonight, the team that came back after a poor start, that's the character we are going to need to be successful."
Indiana begins its regular season schedule on Aug. 25 against Creighton in the Notre Dame Classic.
