With the Hoosiers in the middle of preseason camp, redshirt freshman wide receiver Andrew Means took a few minutes to talk to IUHOOSIERS.com as he prepares for the 2006 season.
It's a great day for football. It's a nice day with a nice breeze. I thought practice went really well today and we got a lot done. From a receivers' standpoint, we didn't have too many missed attempts or busts. We ran a lot of good routes and caught the ball pretty well. We are not where we should be. We are supposed to be the best group on the team and to do that we can't make careless mistakes.
From a team standpoint, we are practicing well. We are focused. We need to come back this afternoon and follow up the morning practice with a solid afternoon practice.
After this practice, I am going to go to the locker room, get showered up and grab some lunch. We have the option of going back to the hotel or staying here. I am going to go back to the hotel, maybe take a little nap so I am ready to go for the next practice.
We are in the middle of camp and everyone is tired and sore. We are trying to keep each other up. The season is less than three weeks away, and we can't start getting slow now because that's how you will play in the game. It's so important to come out here with a lot of energy and enthusiasm.
I can't wait to get on the field for the first game against Western Michigan. Obviously, camp comes first. As it gets closer, it's in the back of everyone's head and that is why there is a lot of energy and intensity.
We are scrimmaging this Saturday. I am excited to get on the field and show all of the fans what we can do. We want to do everything right, know our plays and have fun. It's all in preparation for the season opener. For me, I want to play hard and show everyone that I am ready to play this year.
