Hoosiers Continue Preseason Work

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team, now one full week into preseason camp, continued its preparation for the highly-anticipated start of the 2006 season.
"Practice is going really well," head coach Amy Robertson said. "We are meshing well as a team and are working on some areas that need better organizing. The freshmen are fitting into the system well, and the returners are looking stronger with every practice."
The Hoosiers will take a break from the practice regiment this afternoon as the squad will participate in various team-building exercises around and off campus.
"We are taking a break from our daily routine to do something different, while working on getting stronger as a team," Robertson said. "We have a basketball challenge here, a canoeing challenge on Lake Monroe, along with various other team-building activities. The team has been divided into groups of fours. We hope to use this time to take a break from the daily grind and become closer as a unit."
IU opens the season on the road against Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opponent Virginia. The Hoosiers and the Cavilers will meet on Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. IUHOOSIERS.com will have full coverage of Indiana's quest for a second straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
