BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team will take on Ball State in its first of two preseason matches of the season. The Hoosiers and Cardinals will face off in Muncie, Ind., on Aug. 18. Match time is slated for 4 p.m.
"We are definitely ready to play an exhibition match," head coach Amy Robertson said. "Practice has been going very well, and we have accomplished a lot. It will be a good opportunity for us to further exploit where we need to make improvements. It is so beneficial to play someone other than ourselves and test what we have been working on in practice."
Last season, the Hoosiers kicked off their most memorable season in program history with a 3-0 preseason win over the Cardinals. In 2006, IU will take on BSU during the regular season on Sept. 2 back in Muncie. Indiana is 3-3-1 all-time against Ball State in the regular season.
Indiana closes the preseason slate on Aug. 22, when the Hoosiers head south to take on Louisville at 5 p.m., at Trager Stadium, the site of the 2005 NCAA Final Four.
