A Day at Camp: William Patterson

As the Hoosiers wrap up the second week of preseason camp and look toward their first scrimmage of the season on Saturday, Aug. 19, freshman linebacker William Patterson took a few minutes to talk to IUHOOSIERS.com as he fights for playing time in his first season.
It's an early wakeup around 6:30. Then we load the bus, come eat breakfast and do treatments in between. Then we have meetings and practice, then maybe we get some rest time. Then we have more meetings and practice and more meetings.
I'm not sure why they didn't want us to be outside today, I guess they didn't want us to be in the practice field, so we're [in Mellencamp Pavilion]. It's just a little adversity, and we have to take it and make the most of it.
Probably the biggest thing with getting adjusted to college football has been learning the system. I don't think I was behind athletically, as far as having enough speed. The biggest thing was the mental side of it, getting down the plays and knowing how to perform and such.
This afternoon we have treatments, but we don't have a second practice. Instead we're having a team night tonight, we're going to go out to the movies and see "Tallageda Nights." We still have team meetings and position meetings though.
