Throughout the 2006 preseason, IUHOOSIERS.com will be taking an insider's look at the women's soccer team. Each day from Aug. 8-23, a different member of the team will be keeping a diary of the day's events. The entry for Thursday, Aug. 17 is by senior Lauren Lamping:
Today has been a long day. We had practice this morning and worked on 1-v-1 defending (which was SOOOOO tiring), small side games and shooting. Then when we were all dead tired, of course we ended practice with my FAVORITE activity - running!
Luckily it was only 40-yard sprints and Coach made it more exciting because each sprint was a race. I think by the end only Jenna was unbeaten. YEAH JENNA!
Tonight we played 11-v-11 for an hour on our game field. There were some great goals scored, so hopefully we can carry that over to our exhibition on Saturday against Indiana State!
I can't believe it is my last preseason as a senior this year! My three years have blown by so fast and I want this year to be the best yet! We have a tremendously talented freshman class which in combination with the skill and experience of our upperclassmen will hopefully bring us to the top of the Big Ten this season.
Well, the first step is beating Indiana State on Saturday...Go Hoosiers!
