Coach Weismiller's Thoughts On Intrasquad Scrimmage

Bloomington, Ind. - With its season opener on the horizon, and its annual intrasquad scrimmage now behind them, the Indiana volleyball team will enter its third week of practice on Monday. Head coach Katie Weismiller discussed her team and their progress following the scrimmage.
On the overall state of the team during the scrimmage and the offense:
KW: "I was definitely impressed with our passing, I thought it was very good, very strong. It was nice to scrimmage and see what we have. Offensively for us there are some really bright spots. I thought our setters, who are both new to the system, did a really nice job. Overall, I am very pleased but there are definitely things that we need to work on."
On the defensive efforts of the Hoosiers:
KW: "Our defense looked good. We were going after a ton of balls, and knowing how deep we are defensively, our defense is, and will be, a strong spot. Our setting will be a strong spot, and our passing. Right now we've got some very strong passing and its just putting all of that together with our offense and blocking."
On preparing for the season opener next week:
KW: "We are still in two a days early in the week and then we'll cut down to one practice. The first tournament is still about conditioning and endurance, so hopefully during the the week we'll be able to focus and work through some things that we need to improve on."
The Hoosiers will open the 2006 season on Aug. 25 when they face Akron at the West Virginia Tournament.
