Roberts Advances to Three-Meter Finals at Diving Nationals

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana diver Taylor Roberts earned a spot in the finals of the three-meter springboard, putting forth a solid effort Aug. 2 at the 2006 Kaiser Permanente National Championships, which are being contested at the Indiana University Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.
Roberts got things started with a score of 313.25 in the preliminary/quarterfinal round, good for 18th place. The rising junior then turned in a score of 340.70 in the semifinals, finishing 12th and assuring him a spot in the finals on Aug. 4.
Rising Indiana junior David Legler competed in the platform on Aug. 3, turning in a 15th-place finish in the prelims/quarterfinals with a score of 241.05. Legler improved his score to 274.60 in the semifinals, but finished 16th, missing a shot at the finals.
The National Championships resume on Aug. 4, with the three-meter finals set for 5:30 p.m. and the synchro three-meter slated for a 7:35 start.
