INDIANAPOLIS - Rising Indiana junior Taylor Roberts finished 10th in the finals of the three-meter springboard at the 2006 Kaiser Permanente National Championships at the Indiana University Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI on Aug. 4.
Roberts, who was 18th after the preliminary/quarterfinal round and 12th after the semifinal round, improved his score as well as his place yet again. The Aurora, Colo., native turned in a score of 366.50 in the finals to lock up his 10th-place showing.
The Hoosiers in attendance combined to score 13 team points over the course of the four-day championships, good for a 13th-place tie in the team standings.
"We only took two guys this year, so we're hoping that next time we can take a full squad and compete for the team title," Indiana diving coach Dr. Jeff Huber said. "Taylor Roberts did an outstanding job. It was his first time at a senior national championship and he finished 10th in the three-meters. That was really good to see. He came off a good collegiate season and trained all summer and got better, so that's what we want to see."
