Overton Ties For Ninth At 84 LUMBER Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Making his 23rd start of the season on the PGA Tour, former Hoosier Jeff Overton tied for ninth at the 84 LUMBER Classic Thursday- Sunday, Sept. 14-17. It was Overton's top finish on tour this year and his second top-10 placement.
Playing at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa in Farmington, Pa., the two-time All-American carded a 3-under par 68 in the final round to move into the top-10. Overton finished the tournament with an 8-under total of 280 (72-68-71-69). He also tied for fifth in the field with 19 birdies on the week and tied for eighth with 1.680 putts per greens in regulation (GIR).
The Evansville, Ind., native has made the cut in 17 of the 23 events that he has entered in his rookie season on Tour. His other top-10 finish came when he tied for 10th place at the John Deere Classic, July 13-16. Overton carded four rounds in the 60's for a 271 total (68-69-68-66) in the event.
Overton, who is 25th on the PGA Tour in driving distance with an average of 299.00 yards per drive, stands 123rd on the Tour money list after his finish at the 84 LUMBER Classic. At the end of the season, the top 125 on the money list receive automatic playing privileges for the 2007 season.
