First Week Diary: Kellye Belcher

Throughout the week, IUHOOSIERS.com will take a look at what life is like for the new members of the women's golf team in their first week on campus. Freshman Kellye Belcher, a native of Bartlett, Tenn., shared her experiences from Thursday and Friday.
My first week of college was awesome! It was so weird sitting in my calculus class that has about 300 people in it, and all my classes are about that size. I have one professor who is the 37th child and has 44 brothers and sisters! I think I am really going to like my classes and hopefully they aren't too hard. I have already spent three hours in study hall for math tutoring! I also had my first quiz on Friday in calculus, and it really wasn't too bad.
I like the dorm life. It gets kind of annoying, though, having to take your key everywhere you go and only having access to your floor, but I really like my room and my roommate. The girls on my floor really respect the quiet periods, so that's lucky. My roommate and I rarely see each other though because she plays field hockey and I'm either at class or practicing.
We have had so many meetings to go to I don't know if I cant take another one! They all are about the same thing too, oh well. The good news is is that I believe we are through with them until next season. We have already had two practices and they consisted of putting, putting, and putting. We did the "Laura Nochta Drill" for a total of five hours this week and I believe only two or three girls finished it!
It has already been a great experience being here and I really like college. I haven't met a lot of people yet, but I am finding my way around the campus.
I have been so busy that I really haven't had time to think about home. I do miss my family and friends and of course my dogs! I think I have done a good job making the transition into college.
We had our first day of qualifying on Friday. All the girls shot about the same. It was really neat, like a mini tournament. We still have two more days left to play.
