10 Questions With Brad Ring

Sophomore Brad Ring scored his first goal of the season against Notre Dame on Sunday, Aug. 3. He sat down with IUHOOSIERS.com to answer a few questions about himself.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Ideally playing professional soccer somewhere, either in Europe or the MLS. If soccer doesn't work out, then I would like to be a successful businessman.
Since coming to Indiana, I've learned:
That communication is probably the most important thing for me to improve on. Even though it seems so simple, it's one of the biggest parts of the game.
What do you like best about Coach Freitag?
His passion for the game. You can tell when he talks that he really cares about his team, which makes us care about our team and creates a good environment.
The teammate I most admire is who, and why?
Everyone on the team works hard. If I had to pick out one individual on the team, I would say Julian Dieterle because of his leadership. He always sets the right example for the underclassmen.
Why did you start playing soccer?
My parents put me in many sports when I was younger. I played golf, basketball, baseball, football and soccer. I succeeded at soccer, so I continued to play.
What is your favorite sport besides soccer?
I like playing basketball for fun. I enjoy shooting around with the guys. I'm a big college basketball and NBA fan. I really like to watch basketball.
The best thing about Indiana is:
The tradition, and the pride that every player has when they put on the uniform. You have a tremendous amount of pride every time you put it on.
What is your favorite soccer memory?
Winning Super Y-League Nationals was one of the better moments of my soccer career. Hopefully my best soccer memory is still to come.
Something that many people don't know about you is:
I have a sister who played soccer at the University of Wisconsin. She played for five years there, and was a captain her last two years.
What are your pre-game rituals or superstitions?
I always go left to right when I put my gear on. I put my left sock then right sock on, my left shoe, my right shoe, etc. I also always wear a band on my wrist. For about three years now, I've always had something on my wrist.
