IU Athletics Announces Changes Within Department's Senior Staff

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - ­ Indiana University Director of Athletics Rick Greenspan has announced the following promotions and title changes within the Hoosier Department of Athletics.
In addition to his oversight of the external operations program, Tim Fitzpatrick has been promoted to Senior Associate Athletics Director. He also serves as the administrative liaison for IU football and men¹s and women¹s basketball, and he will now oversee event management and all spirit groups.
Fitzpatrick arrived at IU in January, 2005 after serving as Associate Athletics Director For External Operations at the U.S. Military Academy for the previous five years. He has more than 20 years of marketing and public relations experience at six Division I-A institutions and conference offices.
Chris Reynolds will continue to work as a Senior Associate Athletics Director for Sport Administration, supervising several Olympic sports, as well as equipment operations and providing legal counsel on multiple Department of Athletics contractual issues.
A former IU basketball standout who captained the Hoosiers¹ 1992-93 Big Ten championship and NCAA Elite Eight squad, Reynolds is in his fourth year at his alma mater. Previously, Reynolds worked at Notre Dame, Western Michigan and Michigan State. He earned his juris doctorate from IU in 1996.
Dr. Janet R. Kittell, Ph.D was recently hired as Associate Athletics Director. She will serve as the administrator for several Olympic sports and oversee the Hoosiers¹ sports medicine and strength and conditioning areas. Kittell brings more than 20 years of intercollegiate coaching and administrative experience to Bloomington and arrives at Indiana after spending the last 11 years as Associate Athletics Director for Operations at Syracuse University. Kittell has also served on a variety of prestigious NCAA Committees
In her new capacity as Director of Administrative Services, Mary Ann Rohleder will handle all human resource activities, including employee contract administration and policy and procedure development. Rohleder is in her 14th year at IU and has served the Department of Athletics in a variety of capacities, including marketing, compliance and as Senior Woman Administrator. Prior to IU, she spent 10 years in athletic administration at Butler and also worked at SMU and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
Dr. Grace Calhoun, Ph.D, the Associate Athletics Director for Academics and Compliance, has added the responsibility of serving as Senior Woman Administrator (SWA). In addition to managing the academic services office, Calhoun will oversee compliance, eligibility and admissions support. She will also represent IU as the department¹s SWA at league and NCAA meetings.
Calhoun came to Indiana in June 2005 after a four-year stint as Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student Services and Special Assistant to the Director of Athletics at Dartmouth College. Calhoun also worked as Associate Executive Director of the Patriot League from 1998-2002 and as Assistant Director of Athletics/Senior Woman Administrator and later as the Acting Director of Athletics at Saint Francis University of Pennsylvania. She earned her bachelor¹s degree in electrical engineering from Brown, her master¹s in exercise and sports science and Ph.D in education administration from Florida and an MBA from Lehigh University.
Associate Athletics Director for Facility Management Dr. Jack Garrett, Ph.D, maintains all responsibility for facility maintenance, repair, scheduling and new facility planning and development, and will now serve as the sport administrator for the Hoosier wrestling and baseball programs. Garrett came to Indiana in June 2005 after spending more than 25 years in education administration and higher education, including an 18-year tenure at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill.
Kevin Clark and Scott Dolson will continue their current roles as Associate Athletics Director for Business and Finance and Associate Athletics Director for Development/Varsity Club Director, respectively. Clark and Dolson will work closely in the management and investment of all Varsity Club funds and finances. The Varsity Club has enjoyed a collective 69 percent increase in annual giving over the last five years.
Greenspan said that these promotions, title changes and additions will strengthen the Department of Athletics.
