10 Questions With Lee Hagedorn

Freshman Lee Hagedorn has seen action at midfield for the Hoosiers this season. He sat down with IUHOOSIERS.com to answer a few questions about himself.
If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
If I could visit anywhere I'd probably go to Barcelona, Spain. It seems like an interesting culture. I've taken several Spanish classes and I'd be excited to talk to the people in their own language. It seems like a nice place to go.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I would like to go to a big city, doing something either with soccer, whether it is playing or being part of a team somehow, or in the business world, living with my family.
What is your favorite sport besides soccer?
Other than soccer, my favorite sport to watch is college football. My favorite sport to play is basketball.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
The biggest influence in my life has been my older brother, who just graduated from Indiana last year. We're very close. He's a lot like me and has helped show me the way. Since he's two years older, he's gone through everything I have already and he's helped me make the right decisions, guiding me through college and high school.
Name one thing that you wish you were better at?
I wish I were better at all sports in general. I love playing sports, and it's kind of a bummer to know that I'm only really good in one of them. I wish I had the opportunity to play a number of different sports at a different level.
Why did you start playing soccer?
My parents tried me out in all different sports when I was little. Soccer was one that I excelled at. I think they saw that I enjoyed it a lot, so I stuck with it and have had a lot of success at it.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
If you ask all my friends they'd probably tell you that I have the worst memory ever. But I do remember all of my grade school spring break trips, when I would go to Colorado with my family to go skiing. It some of the more memorable times of my life, I just love skiing. I haven't been for awhile, but we went for about eight years straight when I was little.
Something that many people don't know about you is:
I had a dog when I was in elementary school named Yoda, as in Star Wars Yoda. It was a border terrier. My older brother named him.
Do you have a nickname?
Coach calls me Hagey, short for Hagedorn. There's been some famous soccer players named Hodgy from Romania. He says that my name reminded him of that, so he calls me Hagey.
How do you help Indiana win games?
I try to bring an extra spark when I come onto the field. I want to get out there and make as many runs up the wings as possible, and make sure I'm moving up and down the flank for my teammates, getting back on defense every time. I want to give them an extra lift when I get in the game, going up and down the wing and receiving the ball, getting good crosses in and attacking.
