As part of an ongoing online series, IUHOOSIERS.com will highlight each week in Indiana athletics history. This week will highlight Jan. 15-21.
Jan. 15, 1999 - Diver Mike Collier broke a 10-year-old school record in the one-meter, turning in a six-dive score of 374.45 in a dual meet against Penn State to top Mark Lenzi's mark of 371.25, set in 1989. Collier would go on to reset the record again just 15 days later.
Jan. 18, 1998 - The IU men's basketball team used a 22-8 second half run to defeat 12th-ranked Purdue, 94-88, in Bloomington, Ind. The Hoosiers were led by Luke Recker's 27 point, 12 rebound performance.
Jan. 20, 2005 - Former IU standout Cyndi Valentin became the ninth Hoosier in program history to score 1,000 points in a career in Indiana's loss to No. 3/4 Ohio State. Almost a year later on Jan. 12, 2006 in a 69-56 win over Northwestern, the Bloomington, Ind., native set the Division I record for most consecutive free throws, netting 61 straight.
Jan. 20, 2006 - The Indiana wrestling team defeated Big Ten foe Ohio State, 31-7, to extend its win streak to 10 matches, its longest streak since the 1995-96 season.
