Women's Soccer Volunteers at Head Start Winter Carnival

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's soccer team spent a Saturday of its offseason giving back to the community by volunteering at the Head Start Winter Wonderland Carnival on Saturday, Jan. 20.
More than a dozen members of the Hoosier squad took part in the event, interacting with children who attend the Head Start facility in northwest Bloomington. In addition to working on some basic soccer skills, team members helped the youths with arts & crafts, set up an obstacle course, maintained a cookie decorating station and took part in face painting at the event.
"It's always fun to hang out with the community and give back to it," junior captain Lindsay McCarthy said. "We love to get to see all the kids have so much fun and it's also good for team bonding."
The Hoosiers finished the 2006 season with a 9-7-4 record, including a 5-4-1 mark in Big Ten play. The fourth-place conference finish was IU's highest since 1998.
