Two Hoosiers Close Out Competition At Dixie Amateur

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - Sophomores Seth Brandon and Brandon Pike, each playing in their first Dixie Amateur Championship, failed to make the cut at the 76th playing of the annual event, which took place, Jan. 2-3.
Brandon turned in a 36-hole total of 150 to miss the cut by three strokes. The Dalton, Ga., native carded a 6-over-par 77 in the first round on the Cypress Course at Palm-Aire Country Club, but came back and fired a 2-over 73 on the Oaks Course in the second round to just miss advancing to the final two rounds.
Also starting on the Cypress Course, Pike wrapped up the event with a two-round total of 158. He carded a 7-over par 78 in the first round and then carded an 80 on Jan. 3 for his total.
Eighteen players finished the first 36 holes under par and 60 players advanced to the final two rounds with totals of 147 or better. Mu Hu of Celebration, Fla., led the field with an 18-under total of 134 (68-66).
Brandon, Pike and the Hoosiers will return to the links on Feb. 18, when they open the spring portion of their schedule at the Club de Golf Santa Anita Classic in Guadalajara, Mexico.
