From Jan. 2-6, midfielder Christie Kotynski of the women's soccer team participated with the Olympic Developmental Program's Region II Under-19 squad in interregional play in Ventura, Calif. The freshman kept a diary of her daily events from the West Coast, and IUHOOSIERS.com will publish her entries this week. The first entry is for Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Day 1: So today was all a travel day... and was it interesting.
I've never been to California before, and the trip started out really early in the morning - around 5 a.m. Everything went really well travel-wise and I flew from Indy to Los Angeles, and when I got there (at 8:45 L.A. time) we had to wait there until everyone came in.
All I can say is, wow that airport is HUGE! After everyone arrived a few hours later we headed on a scenic drive to our nice hotel in Ventura. The night was spent hanging out with the team and some quality time watching Step Up, an amazing movie to say the least.
I was so exhausted I went to bed at 8:30!
