BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Marni Mooney, a learning specialist for Indiana football and men's and women's basketball, has been named Indiana Athletics Employee of the Month for the month of September.
Marni is beginning her second year at IU in the Student Services department. She spent the 2006-07 academic year serving as the Hoosiers' initial eligibility, admissions and recruiting officer and moved into her current job as learning specialist in August. During the months of August and September, Mooney went above and beyond her normal job requirements to ensure the timely processing of initial eligibility for several freshmen student-athletes. For a three-week period, Mooney served in both roles for the IU student development and compliance services areas.
A Bloomington native, Mooney earned a bachelor's degree in education from Indiana University in 2000. Prior to joining the Hoosier staff, Mooney spent six years at Warren Central High School where she served as a special education teacher and an academic coach to the high school student athletes.
Mooney will obtain her master's degree in school administration in December 2007.
