BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
Indiana junior forward Kevin Noschang is the Big Ten Men's Soccer Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
In addition, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced Wednesday that Noschang is the NSCAA Player of the Week. It is the second time this season the junior has been honored by the national organization.
Noschang netted a goal and racked up two assists in the Hoosiers' 3-2 win over then-No. 4 Notre Dame last Wednesday. It was Noschang who assisted on Rich Balchan's goal to tie the game a 1-all in the first half. He then put IU up 2-1 late in the second half and played the ball to Neil Wilmarth for what would be the game-wining score in the 81st minute.
Leading the team in goals scored (five) and total points (13), it is the second time this season Noschang has earned Big Ten Player of the Week accolades. In addition, it is the third-consecutive week a Hoosier player has been honored, with Kevin Alston earning the award on Oct. 8 and Chay Cain sharing the Defensive Player of the Week nod last week.
Indiana, ranked 10th in this week's Soccer America poll, plays its final two regular-season home games this week, beginning with Evansville on Wednesday night. Match time is 7 p.m. at Jerry Yeagley Field and Bill Armstrong Stadium.
