IU Volleyball to Participate in Dig for the Cure

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, The Indiana volleyball team will participate in "Dig for the Cure" when it hosts #9 Wisconsin on October 26 at 7 p.m. in University Gym.
The "Dig for the Cure" campaign was originally started in 2003 by former Charlotte head coach Lisa Marston and has spread to volleyball programs across the country. Indiana is one of more than 50 schools set to participate during the 2007 season.
Indiana Volleyball's "Dig for the Cure" campaign will benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Wabash Valley Affiliate. The following sponsors are joining the team in the fight against breast cancer: TIS Bookstore, IU Credit Union, Bucceto's Pizza and Pasta and Chartwell's Concessions. The first 100 fans will receive a pink Indiana Volleyball "Dig for the Cure" t-shirt courtesy of our sponsors. In addition, t-shirts will also be available to purchase for $5 each. All proceeds from the t-shirt sales will go directly to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Wabash Valley Affiliate.
About Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Nancy Goodman Brinker founded Komen in 1982 to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. Today, the Foundation is an international organization with a network of over 75,000 volunteers working through local affiliates.
In 1999, the Wabash Valley Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established to create a year-round presence in the Wabash Valley. Other IU Volleyball Upcoming Events
Hoosier volleyball is set to participate in some other exciting events coming up soon. First, the match Friday night versus Michigan State will kick off the Hoosier Hysteria festivities. Then Saturday night is "Jam the Gym" night at University Gym, an annual High School and Middle School night where teams from across the state come attend the match for free. On Wednesday, Oct. 17th the Purdue Boilermakers come to town and the match will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network. Fans are encouraged to show their Hoosier pride and come dressed in Crimson for that match.
