IUHOOSIERS.com sat down Indiana's Student Development Department to do a Q&A session to get to know the staff. Intern Tyson Beattie is next on the list.
Why did I choose to work for IU Athletics?
I had spent 5 years here as a student athlete and had a tremendous experience, both academically and on the football field. IU had been very good to me and I wanted to continue with the department and learn about college athletics and the management side of sport.
What do I like most about my job?
I like being able to support student-athletes. As I am only a year removed from a sport, I have a lot of familiarity with the kinds of challenges many of the athletes face and I can offer help and support in a variety of ways.
Sports participation:
I was the starting punter at IU from 2003-2006.
Free time activities:
Back home I like to go surfing, but other than that I like to go the movies.

Golf is not a game of perfect, American Gangster
Favorite sports team:
Australian national cricket team
Best class I took in college:
U.S Political Parties with Professor Marjorie Hershey
Artist that takes up most of my iPod:
Maroon 5
If I could live anywhere, it would be:
San Diego
My first job:
Grounds man
