BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's soccer team has added two more players for the fall of 2007, head coach Mick Lyon announced on Monday, Feb. 12. These additions bring the Hoosier recruiting class to 11 players for the upcoming season.
Indiana has signed midfielder Lyndee Collins (Indianapolis/Center Grove) and forward Leigh Anne Cummings (Levittown, N.Y./Kellenberg) to National Letters of Intent. They join forwards Aleah DeGeneres (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield), Darby Hannon (Bloomington, Ind./North), Jocelyn Moses (Indianapolis/North Central) and Whitley Wynns (Indianapolis/North Central); midfielders Chloe McKay (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) and Cameron Myers (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central); defenders Jessica Krichbaum (Granger, Ind./Penn) and Susan Swepston (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin); and goalkeeper Lauren Hollandsworth (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) in IU's incoming class for 2007.
Collins joins the Hoosiers after playing four years of varsity soccer for Center Grove High School. She was named first team all-state in 2006 for Center Grove in addition to earning all-district honors. Collins was selected to the Metro South First Team in each of her four years, and helped Center Grove to the state's Elite 8 in both 2005 and 2006. Collins played her club soccer for Dynamo FC in Indianapolis, helping the team to a Region II semifinals appearance and a Midwest Regional League Premier League championship in 2006.
Cummings comes to Bloomington after playing four years at Kellenberg Memorial High School in Levittown. In 2006, she was named the Catholic High School League Player of the Year after leading Kellenberg to a conference semifinals appearance. Cummings also played six years of club soccer for Mark Alber and the East Meadow ISA Magic and one year for Nick Fitzpatrick and the Albertson Fury. In 2003, Cummings was the Super Y-League Metro Region's leading scorer and helped ISA to a spot in the national semifinals.
The Hoosiers will begin their spring season on Sunday, Feb. 25, when they host Kentucky, Indiana State and Dayton at Mellencamp Pavilion. The action kicks off when IU faces Kentucky at 9:30 a.m. EST.
