Catching Up With Lindsay McCarthy

Throughout the spring of 2007, IUHOOSIERS.com will catch up with different members of the women's soccer team as they go through their spring season. The interview for Thursday, Feb. 22, is with co-captain Lindsay McCarthy.
What is your favorite memory from last season?
"I would have to say the Ohio State game because everybody played
really well and we all had a high level of energy on and off the field."
What do you hope to expand on from last season?
"In the spring I hope we continue to work hard and to win all our
games. I want to lead my team into the conference championship and into
the NCAA Tournament in my final year."
You spend a lot of time on a bus during the season. What do you do
to pass the time?
"I usually study, which then puts me to sleep. I like to play cards,
sing, watch movies and chat with my teammates."
Which road trip do you enjoy making the most?
"In the fall, I am really excited about going to Florida."
If you could change one rule about collegiate soccer, what would it
be?
"In regards to the Big Ten Tournament, I think all 11 teams should
make it."
What goes through your mind when the alarm clock sounds for early
morning conditioning?
"Five more minutes, PLEASE!"
What is your most difficult class this semester?
"My hardest class is Physiology because I have it 4 times a week at
8am. It's a pretty big class with a lot of information to learn."
Who do you think has improved the most since their first game?
"I can't just think of just one teammate. I think as a team we all have
improved since our first game."
What is the mentality of the team right now?
"The fall will be a great season due to the fact that all the returning
players have great work ethics, which will push and motivate the
newcomers."
What are your expectations for the 2007 season after surprising
many in 2006?
"I expect us to surprise our Big Ten foes even more this season when we
finish as strong as we started in 2006."
