Hoosiers Fall to Kentucky, 5-2

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The No. 63 Indiana men's tennis team dropped its second match of the season, falling 5-2 to No. 33 Kentucky on Thursday, Feb. 22.
"This is a disappointing match that I feel we could have won," head coach Ken Hydinger said. "Thomas did a good job for us in doubles after limited practice last week. We have to finish our matches better than we did today and put into practice what I know this team can do."
Although junior Thomas Richter and sophomore Dara McLoughlin won at No. 1 doubles, 8-3 over Kentucky's Bruno Agostinelli and Kenny Hodge, the Wildcats won the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. At No. 2, senior David Bubenicek and sophomore Peter Antons played a strong match with Peter Bjork and Will Ward before falling 8-6.
McLoughlin also won in singles for the Hoosiers at No. 2. He won the first set, 6-4, before Kentucky's (6-3) Ward retired in the second set with McLoughlin holding a 1-0 lead.
Also earning a win for Indiana in singles was senior Arnaud Roussel at No 5. He defeated Shane Collins, 6-0, 6-1.
Antons lost in three sets to Kenny Hodge at No. 6 singles. He dropped the first set 7-5 before rebounding to win the second set, 6-3. Antons fell in the third set, 10-5. At No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, Richter and Michael McCarthy each lost by the scores of 6-4, 6-4. Richter took on Peter Bjork at No. 3, while McCarthy played Marcus Sundh at No. 4.
The Hoosiers (8-2) return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 28, when they play DePaul in a match that was rescheduled from Feb. 15.
