BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana volleyball team will play in four tournaments in its spring schedule, head coach Sherry Dunbar announced on Friday, Feb. 9. The Hoosiers will host one event in addition to traveling to three others.
"I'm excited for the spring schedule," Dunbar said. "We have the ability to see some of the Big Ten and some of the quality teams from the local area as well as some teams from around here that we will play next fall. Not having seen the team play last fall, this will give me a chance to see what type of chemistry they have on the floor, how they play together, all those type of things. It's just a chance for us to play as much as we can after training, see how they are picking up the information that we are giving them and seeing what we need to adjust and move forward with after that."
The Hoosiers will open the spring slate at the University of Louisville Tournament on Saturday, March 24. While in Louisville, IU will face the host Cardinals, Alabama and Southern Illinois. Indiana will then take a week off before heading to West Lafayette, Ind., for the Purdue Tournament on April 7. In addition to Purdue and IU, Valparaiso will round out the intrastate event.
The team then heads to Indianapolis for the IUPUI Spring Tournament on Saturday, April 14. The Hoosiers will see Indiana State, IPFW, IUPUI, Middle Tennessee, Cincinnati and Western Kentucky at the event.
IU will wrap up the spring slate on April 21 when it hosts the University Gym Tournament. IUPUI, Indiana State, Ball State and Western Kentucky will travel to Bloomington for the event, in which each team will face off against each other in a best-of-three match throughout the day. Following the conclusion of the tournament, the Hoosiers will host their annual banquet.
