Catching Up With Christie Kotynski

Throughout the spring of 2007, IUHOOSIERS.com will catch up with different members of the women's soccer team as they go through their spring season. The interview for Friday, March 16, is with sophomore midfielder Christie Kotynski.
What has been the best part of the spring?
"Practicing and working out with the team again. I had mono for the first month of this semester and I hated not being able to do anything."
With the spring season rolling along, how is the team chemistry?
"We have a great group coming back and we get along great. It's nice to finally face competition and show them what we are all about. I can't wait to see what next year will bring!"
With the loss if some core seniors, how will this team rebound?
"We have some big shoes to fill with the seniors leaving us, but I think it will help us in the long run. It will present a challenge that will make us all step up as a team and work hard to fill their roles."
What is your favorite memory of last season?
"My favorite memory of last season was scoring the winning goal in the Michigan game because I had a bunch of my family, friends and old coaches there to watch the game."
What should we expect from you in your sophomore season?
"I need to keep working hard to improve for next year. Last year may have been a good year, but it was last year and I need to focus on getting better and playing well this upcoming year."
What can we expect from the team in 2007?
"You'll see a lot of hard work and determination this spring and next year. We weren't happy with how the season ended last year and we are determined to do better, get that Big Ten Championship and an NCAA bid."
What are your plans for the summer?
"I plan on taking a few summer classes and working out here at IU for the first half of the summer. I am going to join Jessica Boots and her travel team, which will be fun. In the second half of summer, I'm going home to Hudson to relax and prepare for the fall."
What is something that most people don't know about IUWS?
"We are not only talented on the soccer field, as a lot of us have secret talents like juggling, singing, and a couple do great impersonations of people."
What would you like your fans to know?
"This team is a talented group of soccer players that is ready to compete, leave it all on the field as we play our hardest no matter what the situation."
