Throughout the spring of 2007, IUHOOSIERS.com will catch up with different members of the women's soccer team as they go through their spring season. The interview for Monday, March 19, is with sophomore defender Jessica Boots.
What is your favorite memory from last season?
"It would have to be just spending time with the girls because whenever we're together we have such a good time. It doesn't matter if it's on the field or on the bus, we always know how to have fun."
What can we expect from the returnees in leading the fresh faces?
"It won't be the same with seniors not there in the back four, but with time and patience we can become just as strong as a defense."
How has the spring gone for you so far?
"The spring has actually been harder than I expected as we have been working a lot with weights and running to keep in good shape. The first spring tournament we played with only 13 players and we did well. The more we play together, the better we can be."
How is spring conditioning going?
"We continue to run and lift pretty much everyday. There have been a lot of miles covered as we run a mile as a team and then we run 3 to 4 miles individually."
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when your alarm goes off for conditioning?
"I try my best to come up with a great excuse for why I should get to stay in bed, but then I get a reality check and know that no excuse will ever work. So I just drag myself out of bed and get ready for practice."
Who has improved the most in the offseason?
"Ashley Seib has worked really hard and has stepped up her play."
What is your hardest class of the semester?
"It has to be A100, which is accounting. The information is stuff that I have never seen before and it just hasn't clicked with me yet."
Favorite place for a road trip?
"Florida because it's far, but not too far. There are also fun places to stop along the way and the weather gets warmer and warmer as you continue on your way."
