March 27, 2004: The IU water polo program set a new single-game record for goals scored in a 21-2 victory over Salem International. On the same day, IU recorded 26 steals in a 19-1 victory over Penn State-Behrend, a total that was good first on the all-time Hoosiers' steals list.
March 28, 1986: Jenny McDaniel recorded five RBI against Northeast Louisiana as the Hoosiers took both games of a doubleheader, 12-3 and 18-0.
March 29, 1998: Benji Clause and Dan Haegele each entered the Hoosier baseball record book for runs scored against a Big Ten opponent, as each crossed the plate five times in a 23-17 win over Penn State.
March 29, 2006: Kelvin Sampson, a two-time national coach of the year, was named the 26th head basketball coach in Indiana University history. Sampson led Oklahoma to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, 10 20-plus win seasons and three Big 12 Tournament titles before coming to Bloomington.
March 30, 1987: Junior guard Keith Smart sank a baseline jumper from 12 feet with four seconds remaining on the clock to clinch the Hoosiers' fifth national championship with a 74-73 win over Syracuse. Steve Alford set an NCAA Championship record, hitting seven 3-pointers in the game.
