Hoosiers Celebrate Their Phenomenal Women

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's basketball team and staff held their first annual Phenomenal Women Luncheon on Monday, March 26, honoring members of the IU and Bloomington community for their continued support of women's basketball.
"Our Phenomenal Women are so many things to so many people," said IU Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack. "It is important that we know who we are as women in the community and show our players what they can be once they leave Indiana."
The Phenomenal Women that were honored at Monday's Luncheon were also recognized at each of the Hoosiers' home games and earned a spot on the bench as an honorary coach. The following women were honored during the Luncheon for their continued support of the Hoosiers:

Darby McCarty, Owner of Smithville Telephone
Joan Olcott, Olcott Center for Cancer Education
Sue Talbot, Member of the IU Board of Trustees
Elaine Mellencamp, Model and wife of Grammy Award-winning artist John Mellencamp
Jenny Greenspan, Wife of IU Director of Athletics Rick Greenspan
Jane Hoeppner, Wife of IU Football Head Coach Terry Hoeppner
Karen Sampson, Wife of IU Men's Basketball Head Coach Kelvin Sampson
Jill Bolte-Taylor, World-renowned brain scientist and author of "My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist's Personal Journey"
Kerry Marks, Wife of IU Senior Associate Athletic Director Tim Fitzpatrick
Sylvia McNair, Two-time Grammy Award-winner
