Indiana To Face Saint Louis

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's soccer team continues its spring season against Saint Louis on Saturday, March 31. Action begins at 6 p.m. on Yeagley Field.
"During the spring we always try to play some quality opponents, and Saint Louis falls into that category," head coach Mike Freitag said. "They got the better of us at their place this past fall, and we'd like to see how we stack up now as we continue with our spring development."
The Hoosiers and the Billikens are arguably two of the nation's premier NCAA soccer programs. Saint Louis has 10 NCAA titles, while Indiana is second on the all-time list with seven NCAA titles. However, Saint Louis has not won an NCAA title since 1973, the same year that the Indiana soccer program became a varsity program. In comparison, the Hoosiers last won the NCAA championship in 2004.
Indiana is 0-1 this spring after falling to Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew, 1-0, on March 24. Indiana is the only college team to hold the Crew to just one goal this season.
Saint Louis defeated Indiana, 1-0, during the 2006 campaign. The game was televised live on CSTV. The Billikens graduated seven seniors from last year's team, including National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) third team All-American and M.A.C. Hermann trophy semifinalist John DiRaimondo.
