Quirarte Set To Participate In Mexican Amateur

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana junior Santiago Quirarte will be competing in the 80th annual Mexican Amateur on March 29-April 1. In conjunction with the event, he will also be representing Mexico at the International Pairs Tournament.
The Queretaro native will join the field of 119 players vying for the top amateur title in Mexico over 72 holes at the Club Campestre de la Ciudad de Mexico. The competitors will play 18 holes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday before the top 60 and ties advance to the final round on Sunday.
In the International Pairs Tournament, Quirarte will play with Santiago Gavino Valladares to represent Mexico. The two will be facing off against duos from 15 countries, six golf associations in the United States and Canada as well as from the six associations affiliated with the Mexican Golf Federation, the host club and the national youth committee. The winner will be determined through the aggregate scores of both players throughout the tournament.
Quirarte opens the event on Thursday, March 29, on the first tee at 1:52 p.m. EDT.
