Pair of Spring Contests in Store for Hoosiers

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's soccer team continues its spring campaign this Saturday, March 31, as it travels to Fort Wayne, Ind. to meet Valparaiso at 1 p.m. EDT and Cincinnati at 5 p.m. EDT.
IU heads into its second set of spring games undefeated as it kept Indiana State, Kentucky and Dayton scoreless at the IU Women's Soccer Event held on Sunday, Feb. 25. The Hoosiers topped the Sycamores 2-0 and recorded scoreless ties with both Kentucky and Dayton. Jessica Boots and Lindsay McCarthy provided the offense for the Hoosiers, each netting a goal against Indiana State.
The first opponent on the day, Valparaiso, will look to expand on a productive 2006 season in which it tied a school mark for victories with a record of 12-4-3. The Crusaders, who won their second straight Mid-Continent Conference regular season title, return both offensive and defensive threats to the field with freshman forward Sarah Jewell and junior keeper Erin Murray. As Valpo's spring season continues, the team will look to gain even more experience as it joins the Horizon League this upcoming season.
Cincinnati women's soccer is 2-1 in spring play as they split a pair of games on March 3, losing to Tennessee, 2-1 and defeating Georgia, 2-1. Junior midfielder Chelsea Kindschuh provided the offensive spark for the Bearcats as she scored two in the win over the Bulldogs. The team followed up its victory with a 4-1 win against Canadian club team Erin Mills on March 9.
