Throughout the 2007 spring practice season, IUHOOSIERS.com will bring you interviews with members of the Indiana football team. After IU's practice on Thursday, March 29, IUHOOSIERS.com caught up with redshirt freshman defensive lineman Kevin Burrus. Burrus transferred from Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College to join his twin brother, Keith, in Bloomington and enrolled in classes second semester.
On what he enjoys about Bloomington:
"I'm loving it. I'm here with my brother (Keith Burrus) and it feels good to be here. It feels like home."
On the decision to come to Indiana early for spring football:
"I wanted to get the conditioning and everything together. Conditioning was hard when I first got here, but I am starting to get into shape now."
On the biggest difference between Coffeyville, Kan., and Bloomington:
"Last fall, I was in a small town. There only a couple of thousand people in Coffeyville. This feels like a big city right here. It is definitely a different atmosphere."
On how camp is going personally and for the team:
"Personally, it is getting me better. I am getting better every day out here. I feel like this is the year for the team to make it into a bowl game."
On coming to IU to play with his brother:
"He told me he loved it here. Since he loved it, I knew I would love it. And after the move, I feel like it was great choice."
On familiarity with the coaching staff:
"I knew Coach (Bill) Lynch real well before coming here. He recruited me when I was in high school, and he has been real loyal to me."
On what he is looking forward to this fall when the season begins:
"I look to hopefully be starting and just to do the best that I can on the field."
On his No. 1 goal this spring:
"That I can go out and play, and I just didn't just come here for any reason. I came out here to play."
