Lawson Wins Long Jump at Missouri's Tom Botts Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Senior Kiwan Lawson recorded a first place finish in the long jump as the Indiana track and field team competed at the Tom Botts Invitational, hosted by the University of Missouri at Audrey J. Walton Stadium in Columbia, Mo., on Friday, April 13.
Lawson led the way with a mark of 7.18 meters for the top spot in the long jump. He was followed by juniors Tyler Skelton with a third-place mark of 6.72 meters and Devin Moore, who placed fourth with a leap of 6.35 meters.
Sophomore Chris Klakamp used a toss of 47.88 meters in the javelin for fifth and sophomore Paul Fearnow placed fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 54.30 meters.
"We had some solid performances in not so favorable weather conditions," IU interim head men's track and field coach Wayne Pate said. "We are looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully dominating some more events."
The Hoosiers return to action tomorrow at the Tom Botts Invitational at 3 p.m. ET with the 4x100-meter relay race. Field events begin at 2 p.m. with the pole vault.
