Rappaport Impressive in Prelims at Spring Nationals

BOYDS, Md. - Indiana graduate Jesse Rappaport had a solid showing on the first day of the preliminaries of the Speedo USA Diving Spring Nationals, taking second on the three-meter and third on the one-meter at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center on Sunday, April 15.
Rappaport, a 2006 graduate, turned in a score of 348.75 on three-meter, with four of his six dives among the top four in their respective rounds. Rappaport's fifth dive, an inward two-and-a-half somersault pike, earned him 63.00 points and led the round. He also posted the second-best score in the second round, notching 64.60 points for his forward two-and-a-half somersault two twist pike. His biggest point-scorer came with his first dive, a forward three-and-a-half somersault pike that earned him 66.65 points, good for third in the round.
Rappaport picked up 294.50 points on the one-meter, finishing less than a point out of second place. He turned in outstanding efforts with both his first and last dives, posting the top scores of the round each time. Rappaport started the competition with a score of 57.20 for his forward two-and-a-half somersault pike, and wrapped up his day with a score of 62.00 for his inward two-and-a-half somersault tuck.
Preliminaries continue on Monday, April 16, with the women's three-meter and one-meter and the men's platform. The semifinal and final rounds start on Wednesday, April 18.
