Clausing Named IU Athlete of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana senior track and field standout Stacey Clausing has been named the IU Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 15. The award is selected by the IUHOOSIERS.com staff.
Clausing saw time on top of the awards stand with two first place finishes at the Tom Botts Invitational, hosted by the University of Missouri on April 13-14. She won the 200-meter dash in 24.56 and then went on to claim the 400-meter title with a time of 57.14.
She recorded two of Indiana's 10 first place finishes on the weekend.
Other IU athletes who had standout performances during the week include Laura McGaffigan (women's tennis), Jordan Kyle (men's track and field) and Dara McLoughlin (men's tennis).
Laura McGaffigan
Sr. - Davenport, Iowa - Bettendorf
McGaffigan went 3-1 in singles and doubles during the week. Against
Illinois on April 14, she defeated Momei Qu at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-4. She won in singles and doubles in a 4-3 win at Purdue, upsetting No. 45 Brooke Beier and Mallory Voelker in doubles with Alba Berdala, 8-6. It was their second win over a ranked opponent in their last three matches. In singles,
McGaffigan defeated Beier, 6-3, 7-6 (5) to help Indiana come back from a 3-1 deficit against the Boilermakers on April 15.
Jordan Kyle
So. - Fishers, Ind. - Hamilton Southeastern
Kyle clocked a personal-best 29:14.01, the second fastest 10,000-meter time in IU history, at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday, April 13. Kyle placed 11th overall with a time that provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 7-9, in Sacramento, Calif. He has already qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional meet in the 5,000-meter run, which will be held in Columbia, Mo., on May 25-26.
Kyle currently ranks 20th in the nation in the 10K and 31st in the 5K.
Dara McLoughlin
Jr. - Dublin, Ireland - Belvedere
McLoughlin earned singles wins against Illinois and Purdue over the weekend. He won at No. 3 singles in both matches. In doubles, he and Thomas Richter played a strong match against Illinois' No. 10 ranked team of Kevin Anderson and Ryan Rowe, falling 8-5, on April 14. The duo also fell in a tiebreaker against Purdue on April 15.
