BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's soccer team will compete in Indianapolis for the second week in a row when they take on the Cincinnati Bearcats as part of the Literacy Classic at Warren Central High School on Friday, April 20, at 7 p.m.
The tournament runs through Saturday, April 21, featuring men's and women's teams from Butler, IUPUI, UIC and Ohio State. A two-day pass for all games is $10, while a single day ticket is $7. The funds generated from this event go to purchase school supplies for underprivileged students in Warren Township Elementary Schools.
The Hoosiers have won their last two spring games, a 1-0 win over Louisville, and a 2-0 defeat of Notre Dame.
"There is an old saying that you are only as good as your last game, and our last game was good," head coach Mike Freitag said. "I was very pleased with our performance under tough conditions. We probably played our best spring game to date. The intensity was there, the focus was there, and I look forward to building on that with our next two games against Cincinnati and Mexico. As I told the guys today, it feels good to have that win against Notre Dame, but forget the win and remember how you got it - with hard work and good play - and bring that to the table on Friday night."
Kevin Noschang, who tallied both scores against Notre Dame, leads the team in scoring this spring. Darren Yeagle has a goal and an assist.
The game against Cincinnati is a prelude to Indiana's final spring game against the U-20 Mexican National Team. The Hoosiers will face El Tri on Sunday, April 29, at 3 p.m., in Armstrong Stadium.
