ST. LOUIS - The Indiana women's soccer team finished off its spring slate with a pair of games on Saturday, defeating Memphis 3-1 but falling to Saint Louis 1-0. The Hoosiers wrapped up the spring with a 5-2-3 record.
Indiana started the day with a strong contest against the Tigers. The Hoosiers got out of the gates quickly, with Ashley Seib netting a goal in the game's opening minutes. Kristin Arnold extended the lead to 2-0 late in the half with a goal of her own to give IU a 2-0 lead at the break.
Liz Holby played the first half in goal for the Hoosiers, who were without Stacey Van Boxmeer for the weekend, and shut out Memphis in the frame. In the second half, Holby netted a tally of her own on a header, and Christie Kotynski came within 30 seconds of finishing off the shutout, but MU netted a goal off a corner in the closing minute to give IU a 3-1 margin.
In the second game, IU was topped by a deep SLU squad that had 22 players for the contest. Beverly Markwort kept the Billikens off the scoreboard as IU's first-half keeper, but Saint Louis got the only goal it needed in the second half when it put one past Natalie O'Bryan.
