Martin has participated in nine tournaments during the season, including five during the spring portion of the schedule.
REVISITING THE 2006 BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP
After a stormy final round of play that featured incredibly inclement weather at the Conway Farms Golf Club (par 71, 7,168 yards), the Indiana men's golf team closed out the 2006 Big Ten Championships in sixth place with a total of 1,181 (285-288-283-325), on April 30.

IN THE RANKINGS
Sophomore Jorge Campillo continues to cement his place as a national force this season. The Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2006, Campillo has captured medalist honors twice already this spring, at the GADO North Texas Classic and at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. He is also a presence in the national rankings, as he is currently ranked No. 36 in the nation in the Golfweek standings.
EURO PRIDE
Sophomore Jorge Campillo was one of eight golfers selected to represent Europe in the 2007 Palmer Cup presented by Monster. The annual Ryder Cup-style competition between American collegiate golfers and their counterparts from Europe will be played on June 7-8, at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md.
Campillo will be joined on the team by Jonas Blixt of Florida State (Sweden), Rhys Davies (Wales) and Gareth Shaw (Northern Ireland), who play for East Tennessee State, Texas Tech's Oscar Floren (Sweden), Georgia State's Mark Haastrup (Denmark), Arizona's Pedro Oriol (Spain) and Stirling's Gordon Yates (Scotland). The group will be coached by Chris van der Velde of the Netherlands. The United States leads the all-time series 5-4-1, but Europe has captured three of the last four titles.
He is the second Palmer Cup participant to come from the Indiana lineup, as former Hoosier and current PGA Tour player Jeff Overton represented the United States at the 2005 competition. Campillo, a member of the Spanish National Federation team, has been selected to the Spanish National Team 17 times. Most recently, he represented his country at the European Under-21 Team Championships in the summer of 2006. Campillo captured all of his matches throughout the championships to lead the Spanish National Team to victory.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK X TWO
Indiana University sophomore Jorge Campillo was named the Co-Big Ten Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced on Thursday, March 22. It marked his the second weekly honor of the season and the fifth of his career.

It was the second consecutive title for both the Hoosiers and Campillo, who each shared first place at the GADO North Texas Classic to open the spring season on Feb. 18-19. The 67 turned in by the Caceres, Spain, native in the second round tied his career-low, which he set in the third round of the NCAA East Regional in 2006.
INVITE ONLY
Indiana University sophomores Seth Brandon and Jorge Campillo were invited to participate in the prestigious Jones Cup Invitational on Feb. 2-4, at the Frederica Golf Club in Sea Island, Ga. The Jones Cup Invitational, a 54-hole stroke play event, is contested biennially among the best amateur players from around the world. First contested in 2001, the Jones Cup Committee extended invitations to 99 players for the 2007 competition based on a variety of criteria, such as tournament finishes and amateur rankings.
Campillo finished in a tie for 62nd place at the event with a three-day total of 226 (70-81-75) while Brandon was one stroke behind him, wrapping up the event in a tie for 69th at 227 (76-76-75).

Each playing in their first Dixie Amateur, both failed to make the cut at the 76th playing of the annual event, which took place Jan. 2-3. Brandon turned in a 36-hole total of 150 to miss the cut by three strokes. LEADING THE WAY
In addition to being in his ninth season leading the Hoosiers, head coach Mike Mayer was recently named to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Coaches Congress. As a member of the congress, Mayer serves as the liaison between the men's golf coaches in the Big Ten and the GCAA in matters, including pending and future legislation as well as numerous other issues pertaining to championships and just the general state of college golf. Mayer's term as a member of the congress will run from Jan. 2007-June 30, 2008.
SUCCESS AWAY FROM THE COURSE
A hallmark of Mayer's tenure at the helm of the IU men's golf program has been the academic success that the team has had. That success has continued in the 2006-07 season, as two members of the team have already been named IU Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
For the week ending Oct. 8, 2006, senior Tad Sacheck earned the honor, while sophomore Drew Allenspach was the honoree for the week ending Jan. 28, 2007.

HOOSIERS ON TOUR
When IU alum Steve Wheatcroft earned his PGA Tour card on Dec. 4, 2006, it brought the total of former Hoosiers on Tour to three, something that many schools can not claim.
