
Hoosiers Finish Tied for Sixth At Big Ten Championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Sophomore Jorge Campillo finished in a tie for 12th as the Indiana men's golf team wrapped up the Big Ten Championship in a tie for sixth. The Hoosiers had a team total of 1213 (299-303-300-311) on the OSU Scarlet Course.
Campillo carded a 76 in the final round to wrap up the 72 hole event with a total of 301 (78-72-75-76). He was followed in the lineup by classmate Drew Allenspach, who finished in 20th place with a total of 304 (73-78-75-78), and fellow sophomore Seth Brandon, who also finished in the top-25, tying for 24th position at 306 (72-77-74-83).
Freshman Alex Martin wrapped up his first Big Ten Championship in a tie for 34th with a tournament total of 309 (76-76-76-81). Sophomore Brandon Pike tied Campillo for the team-low round of the day with a 76 on Sunday, giving him a tournament total of 314 (81-78-79-76), which tied him for 44th at the event.
"We just got off to an extremely poor start today and after that it was impossible to recover," head coach Mike Mayer said. "I am proud of the way the team fought, they fought really hard, but they made some mistakes on the golf course where you could not make those kinds of mistakes."
Michigan State and Michigan tied for the conference title. Michigan State finished with a total of 1192 (298-295-296-303), while Minnesota also tallied 1192 (307-293-298-294). Purdue finished third with 1196 (299-292-304-301) while Ohio State with 1205 (295-306-301-303) and Wisconsin with 1207 (306-295-301-305) rounded out the top five.
