Three Hoosiers Compete at Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational

PALO ALTO, Calif. - A trio of Hoosiers competed late in the evening on Sunday, April 29, at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational, hosted by Stanford University, in Palo Alto, Calif.
Senior Jessica Gall clocked a regional qualifying time of 16:40.59 in the second section of the 5,000-meter run to finish in 10th place. She has already provisionally qualified for NCAA Championships in the 10,000-meter run and is one of seven Hoosiers on the women's side who will compete at the NCAA Mideast Regional meet on May 25-26, in Columbia, Mo.
Senior Marcus Aguilar improved his season-best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase when he crossed the finish line in 9:09.04 to finish 19th in the event.
Sophomore Jordan Kyle also competed Sunday night in the 5,000-meter run. Kyle ran a 14:17.61 to finish 20th in the second section of the men's 5K. Kyle has already qualified for the regional meet for Indiana in the 5K and has provisionally qualified for NCAA Championships in the 10,000-meter run. IU has five athletes in six events on the men's team that have qualified for regional competition.
Aguilar, Gall and Kyle, along with the rest of the Indiana track and field team, will be back in action on Friday, May 4, when they host the Billy Hayes Invitational on the Billy Hayes Track at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex in Bloomington.
