Gordon Named Indiana Mr. Basketball

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana men's basketball signee Eric Gordon was awarded the 2007 Indiana Mr. Basketball. This marks the 19th time the state's top player has signed with the Hoosiers and the first time since current IU standout A.J. Ratliff won the award in 2004.

The 6-4 guard from North Central High School in Indianapolis received 91.1 percent of the vote (216 of 237 ballots cast) and finished ahead of runner-up E'Twaun Moore (11 votes). It's the third-highest winning percentage since the voting results started being released in 1988.

Gordon, who recently competed in the McDonald's All-American Game and was named the Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year, averaged 29.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists during the 2006-07 season. He also shot 57.0 percent from the field, 46.2 percent from 3-point range and 88.0 percent from the foul line. Gordon led North Central to a 21-5 record and a Class 4A state runner-up finish.
