Hoosiers In The Mix At NCAA Central Regional

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Freshman Anita Gahir chipped in on the ninth hole again on Friday, this time from the sand, en route to an even-par 71 in the second round of the NCAA Central Regional and stands in a tie for seventh place with a total of 141 (70-71) entering the final round. The Indiana women's golf team wrapped up the day with a 36-hole team total of 584 (289-295) and is in 10th place heading into the final round. All placements are through the morning session, with many players still on the course for the second round.
Following Gahir is fellow freshman Kellye Belcher, who shares 36th place with a two-day total of 147 (72-75). Belcher turned in nines of 37 and 38 on Friday for her total. She shares that placement with junior Elaine Harris, who has turned in a 75 on Friday to go along with a 72 during the first round for a total of 147. She opened Friday's second round with a 39 on the front nine and closed with a 36 on the back.
Freshman Laura Nochta wrapped up Friday's second round with a 3-over-par total of 74 with nines of 37 and 37 and will enter Saturday's final round in a tie for 57th place at 149. She is followed by junior Lauren Harling, who is in a tie for 70th place with a two-round total of 153 (76-77). She carded a 38 on the front and a 39 on the back for her placement on the round.
The final round of the NCAA Central Regional, hosted by the University of Michigan, will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 12. The Hoosiers will find out their tee times after the conclusion of play on Friday. The 54-hole event, in which the top eight teams advance to the NCAA Finals, will conclude on Saturday, May 12.
