FORT MEYERS, Fla. - Rising Indiana junior Steffan Troxel finished fifth in the 5K at the USA Swimming Open Water National Championships on Thursday, May 17.

Troxel posted a time of 54.00.60 for his placement. Chip Peterson of North Carolina Aquatic Club took first in 52.39.20.

Troxel recently competed his sophomore campaign for the Hoosiers, and competed in the 500-yard freestyle, 1,650-yard freestyle and 400-yard individual medley at the Big Ten Championships. He turned in an NCAA "B" cut in the mile and posted career-best times in the 500 free and 400 IM on the season.
