2007 Women's Soccer Schedule
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's soccer team will host 10 games in its 19-game 2007 schedule, head coach Mick Lyon announced today. In addition to four Big Ten home games, the Hoosiers will play host to the third annual Hoosier Classic, which will bring national powers Maryland, Southern California and Loyola Marymount to Bloomington this season.
Indiana will begin its season with a trip to Florida to take on NCAA participants Jacksonville and Florida. The Gators advanced to the round of 16 a season ago, while JU was topped in the first round by national semifinalist Florida State in the 2006 tournament.
Following their trip to Florida, the Hoosiers return home for the second edition of the ONB Hoosier Classic on Sept. 7 and 9. This season, the four-game event will feature three of the elite programs in the country. The Hoosiers will square off with NCAA participants USC and LMU, while ACC squad Maryland will also come to town for the Classic.
Indiana then plays five of its next six games at home, with a mid-week trip to Butler the lone exception. Indiana closes out its homestand with its first Big Ten contests of the season, as Northwestern and Wisconsin visit Bloomington for games on Friday, Sept. 28, and Sunday, Sept. 30, respectively.
The Hoosiers then go on the road for games against Michigan and Michigan State on Oct. 5 and 7, before returning home for games against Minnesota and Iowa on Oct. 12 and 14. IU then heads to Illinois on Sunday, Oct. 19, before returning home for Senior Day against Oakland University on Sunday, Oct. 21. The game will be a doubleheader with the men's team, which is slated to face Ohio State. Indiana will close the season with conference road games against Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue.
Indiana returns two all-conference selections from last year's squad that went 9-7-4 and allowed a program record-low 15 goals.
